GKF ADVOCATES THE CREATIONS OF OLDER PERSON’S HOME

As the world marks the 2022 International Day of Older Persons, a non-governmental organization, Global Knights Foundation has called for the creation of older Persons’ homes across all 774 Local governments of the Federation.

At a Roundabout discussion on the welfare of aging groups to mark this year’s United Nations International Day of Older Persons, the Executive Director of the Foundation, Ngozi John-Uyah stressed the need for urgent attention from the government and relatives of aged people for adequate care, compassion and consideration for their needs.

Panelists at the event, Vicky Nat-Ojochide, and Nimi Walson-Jack maintained that aging is a natural phenomenon, hence the need for the younger generation to get prepared by taking conscious of their lifestyle.

Mr Adedeji Ekundayo, co-organiser of the event pledged his readiness to support Global Knights Foundation to ensure that older persons were adequately catered for.

Other Panelists, Simon Obi and Dr Lambert Oparah highlighted other barriers militating against older people including discrimination, lack of mobility, inadequate health care, insecurity, myth, and wrong perception.

This year’s United Nations International Day of Older Persons is themed, “Resilience of Older Persons in a Changing World”.
